Tickseed or Red Coreopsis is a hardy, rapid-growing species found throughout the North American continent. In the Northwest it behaves as a perennial, dying back in autumn. The plants are somewhat spreading and a foot or more in height.

The leaves are narrow and bright green, making this perennial attractive even when not in flower. The flowers are striking. Daisy-like, they have dark brown centers and multiple petals. The species is yellow, and the cultivar a deep red. Easy to grow, the flowering season is long and the plants require little water, particularly once established. They work well in the small garden or as landscaping perennials.

These plants are grown from seed and are a year old.
