Pennsylvania Ash or Green Ash is a deciduous, native tree of the midwestern and eastern states and the southern Canadian provinces. It reaches 60-70 feet in height in its native habitat. The flowers are inconspicuous; the fruit is a samara with a single seed.

The bark is smooth and gray on young trees, but thickened and grooved on older specimens. The trees are quite open and attractive.

The pinnately compound leaves are 10-12 inches in length with seven to nine leaflets, up to six inches in length. The margins are serrated and the stalks are short. They are bright green above and paler beneath. In autumn the leaves turn golden-yellow.

These trees are four years old and are grown from seed collected in Wisconsin.
