The flowers are small, white, and bell-shaped. The dark blue berries are edible and have been used in jams or jellies, often in combination with other fruits. Salal leaves are often used in floral arrangements.
Salal does well in shady or sunny conditions and makes an excellent ground-cover. It requires little care.
