Geraniums are typically annuals in the Pacific Northwest although they will survive warm winters. The flowers are colorful and large, the leaves ranging from pale to deep green and often variegated. Thus, both the leaves and flowers are very attractive. Flowers may be white, red, orange, pink, and all variations between, including two-toned. A very popular summer annual, geraniums bloom robustly throughout the season.

Geraniums need well-drained soil and sunshine to thrive. They respond well to fertilizer and make excellent container plants.

Garden geraniums are not "true" geraniums at all but rather members of the genus pelargonium. They originated in Africa and have been in cultivation for several hundred years.

These are cuttings from cultivated geraniums.
