Pacific Ninebark is a deciduous shrub, growing to 8 feet in height with a 4-foot spread. The leaves are maple-like, to 2.5 inches in length, smooth on top, with short hairs beneath. Rounded inflorescences composed of many creamy-white flowers grow along the branches on short stems. The fruit is a dry capsule. The stems are brownish; older stems are covered with peeling bark.

This species is shade tolerant and grows well in ordinary garden soil. It may be pruned to keep it to a desired height and width.

These shrubs were grown from cuttings and are one year old.
