Eastern Ninebark is a native shrub east of the Rocky Mountains. Resembling Pacific Ninebark, the Northwest native, it is a deciduous shrub, growing to 8 feet in height with a 4-foot spread and an arching configuration. The leaves are maple-like, yellowish-green in color to 2.5 inches in length, smooth on top, with short hairs beneath. Rounded inflorescences composed of many creamy-white flowers with pinkish tips grow along the branches on short stems. The shrubs appear densely packed with flowers. The fruit is a dry capsule. The stems are brownish; older stems are covered with peeling bark.
This species is shade tolerant but also grow well in the sun, and prefer well-drained soil. It may be pruned to keep it to a desired height and width.
These plants were grown from seed and are two years old.
