Golden Currant is a native deciduous shrub with a wide distribution in the United States and Canada. Small to medium-sized, it is most commonly found in drier locations, such as the middle elevations in the Kittitas valley. Thus, it is both drought and cold-tolerant.

In early spring, racemes of fragrant, golden-yellow flowers distinguish this currant. The fruits are small and edible.

This species is the source for many cultivars, grown as garden ornamentals. The distinctive flowers make it a beautiful addition to the small or large garden.

These plants are grown from purchased cuttings.
