Alpine Coneflower or Showy Coneflower is a perennial native to the Wenatchee mountains of eastern Washington. There it grows in moist habitats in low mountainous sites. The flowering stalks may reach four feet in height.

A member of the Aster family, with its ray-less flowers, this coneflower is unique. Thus, the "flower" is truly cone-like; expanding with age, the flower heads are two or more inches tall; they are surrounded at the base with greenish bracts, appearing nearly like petals. The leaves are oval with pointed tips, light green in color, and four-to-five inches in length.

Growing best in full sun, this coneflower is an unusual and striking addition to the garden.

These plants are grown from seed.
