Sungold is a popular cherry-type tomato with round, golden-colored fruits. It was introduced in 1992 by the British company, Thomas and Morgan. The plants are heavy producers, providing fruits for an extended period of time The fruits have thin skins, and are sweet. The fruits mature in 55-58 days and the plants are excellent in cooler climates. Although considered an eating tomato, the sweet fruits are also good in some cooking applications.
This is an indeterminate tomato with tall plants. It is reported by some growers, however, that they can be trimmed and put in smaller pots if fertilized. They can be ripened indoors in brown bags.
